Social Impact

A major goal of Agripak is to positively impact the community surrounding the farm and enrich the lives of rural Ghanaians. Agripak is especially committed to supporting the youth and women of Ghana in their quest for economic advancement. In a land where unemployment, poverty, and illiteracy run rampant, the young people crave a better future. Agripak recognizes this desire to break from the past and has created a variety of venues for individuals to realize their potential -‐ even in an impoverished environment.

Beginning in 2018, Agripak Farms Limited will convert a considerable portion of its freehold development to Community Based Vegetable farms. These programs are designed to place substantial assets into the hands of our impoverished neighbors, enabling them to break the grasp of poverty and generate significant family income. These programs will produce partnerships that will not only benefit the members, but may function as a model for how agribusinesses in Africa may serve as catalysts for entrepreneurial expansion for the mutual benefit of all, notably the youth.

Agripak Farms will provide the equipment and supervision to clear and level the land as necessary, provide inputs (seeds, fertilizer, etc), install irrigation and control systems, and build access roads to the newly developed fields. In addition, Agripak will offer practical agri-‐business training to farmers at Agripak Training Institute to develop their technical skills and build capacity. The community-‐based vegetable farming groups will work in cooperation with and under the guidance of Agripak to grow vegetable and rotational crops, which conform to the quality standards of Agripak Farms Limited. Agripak will provide agricultural extension to advise and assist community based farmers in their quest for the highest possible yields at the lowest costs.

Agripak Logistics Limited will buy the harvested vegetables from the community-‐based farmers at a pre-‐determined price that has been agreed upon by both parties. Agripak believes the community-‐based farming model will guarantee the much needed financial independence, improve livelihoods, provide economic development and drive youth employment in the community.
